From the Principal's Pen
Welcome to the 2024 Academic Year! I extend a warm welcome to all returning students and families, and to those who are new to Jubilee Christian College this year. I trust that all families had a wonderful Christmas and holiday period (although it feels so long ago). I am very excited for the upcoming academic year. We have several new initiatives being implemented along with some new and very talented teaching staff. I am always impressed by the depth of knowledge and the breadth of skill of our teaching team, this very much includes our amazing Teaching Aides – God certainly has blessed us in abundance.
I am absolutely passionate about Distance Education as I have seen time and time again the incredible way in which it provides students with a format of learning which suits their learning styles and needs. Distance Education provides students with the opportunity to develop physically, spiritually, academically whilst also exploring their interests and passions. However, Distance Education can present its challenges. Please know that our incredible hard working and passionate staff are here to support your journey this year and I encourage you to reach out whenever you need any additional support, advice or guidance.
Reflection
I start this year with the words from Diadochos of Photiki, who was born around 400. From his treatise on “Sprititual Perfection”, Diadochos writes:
"Whoever is in love with himself is unable to love God. The man who loves God is the one who abandons his self-love for the sake of the immeasurable blessings of divine love. Such a man never seeks his own glory but only the glory of God. If a person loves himself he seeks his own glory, but the man who loves God loves the glory of his Creator."
He then adds: “Anyone who loves God in the depths of his heart has already been loved by God. In fact, the measure of a man’s love for God depends upon how deeply aware he is of God’s love for him.”
Blessings

Welcome, both new and returning families, to the start of an exciting school year with Jubilee Christian College through Distance Education. I look forward to a year filled with learning, progress, encouragement, and connection. Every new year of schooling starts with a flurry of activity and 2024 is no exception.
What's new in 2024?
- Online Spanish Lessons for P-9 Students
- A specialist Maths teacher for Year 9 Students
- New Maths Textbook in Years 7-9
What’s Continuing in 2024?
- Individualised support from a dedicated family teacher
- Online Chinese lessons for continuing students
- Weekly GMeets to Support Year 7-9 Maths and English Students
- At least 2 opportunities to get together as a community each term
Next week, our Jubilee Connect events will kick off and we are excited for this opportunity to not only get together but also partner with highly recommended professionals in their field, to provide relevant and engaging activities for our P-9 students. Together with a Swimming Carnival to look forward to in the South East, and Cross Country in the Far North, there are plenty of opportunities to network and encourage each other.
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works…" Hebrews 10:24 NKJV
It is wonderful to have you as part of the Jubilee family. Our entire team is committed to providing exceptional support for your student’s learning journey.

The Careers Corner
Welcome to the Career section, where we aim to cast a spotlight on the Senior Phase Pathways.
Your Future - Your Way!
Our Senior Phase program spans three years, catering for students in Years 10, 11, and 12.
Tailored individual pathways are crafted to nurture each student's unique gifts, talents, and career aspirations. The flexibility of our senior phase timetable allows for both structured and flexible learning, accommodating the diverse needs of each student's pathway.
Our overarching goal is to empower students to:
- Maximise your time and reduce the stress
- Use your time efficiently
- Work smarter
- Uncover and develop your God-given gifts and talents
- Develop your future through a purpose-driven learning experience
We firmly believe that each student is born for such a time as this!
Look out for the Career Corner in the next newsletter, which will outline the QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education). We will consider why it is important and how you can achieve it.
The Careers Team door is always open, inviting your questions and fostering discussions about future pathways. Please drop us a line any time. We would love to hear from you.

From our Curriculum Team
Welcome to 2024 at Jubilee Christian College Distance Education. My name is Rebecca Schwenk and part of my role at Jubilee Christian College is ensuring that our curriculum is not only biblically sound, relevant and engaging, but also clearly aligned to Version 9 of the Australian curriculum. Our team of writers have worked diligently to make improvements to the 2024 curriculum and we hope that you and your students are enjoying the learning so far.
We are looking for any constructive feedback that you might have. Please feel free to use the feedback form that can be found on the DE Family Portal.
Kind regards,

From our Chappy
Did you know our Distance Education students and families have a school chaplain?
Our Jubilee chaplain supports the well-being of our school community and provides social, emotional, and spiritual support for students, families, and school staff.
Through one-on-one support, running small groups and connecting with staff, students and families, our school chaplain is making a difference to our school community.
Our Chaplain, Wendy KumYuen, is available to support your family. Working from our office on Monday and Tuesday each week, you can contact her by email or phone, arrange a student G-Meet Chappy Chat, invite her to your pastoral care class online, ask her to pray with and for your needs or find her attending one of our DE school events throughout the year.
If you would like to contact Chappy Wendy, you can call our office on Monday or Tuesday or email wendy.k@jubileecc.qld.edu.au
