From the Principal's Pen
Welcome to all existing and new families to Jubilee Christian College, it’s going to be a great year!
Whilst there were a few nervous children on Monday, these nerves quickly settled as students were straight into new and existing friendships, as well as their academic learning programs.
Thank you to all parents and carers for your support for our teachers and for all that we are striving to do at Jubilee Christian College. Please remember that our staff love to hear your feedback! To help us make Jubilee the best place for your child’s learning, you can email admin@jubileecc.qld.edu.au with any thoughts or ideas for improving our little school.
The Christmas break was a great opportunity to reflect on the past year and consider the upcoming year ahead. I enjoyed a time away with my family kayaking and hiking. Both activities gave me some very needed ‘quiet time’. It is interesting how easy we get caught up in the happenings of the world, internationally, nationally and locally. As I kayaked with the flow of the mighty Murray River, I reflected on how we can trust God’s truth and, when negotiating with uncertainty, was reminded to always seek His wisdom and guidance in action and word. I am grateful that God’s truth flows like the Murray River and is not stored like the Tinaroo Reservoir.
A core role of Jubilee Christian College is to nurture children in Christian character, that is, compassion, patience, honesty, kindness, truthfulness, humbleness, critical thinking, and most importantly, love. As we journey together this year, have confidence that every staff member at Jubilee seeks to reflect God’s unconditional love into your child’s learning program to support the development of these character traits.

Parking
With the move of our administration building, we would ask all parents and carers to be mindful of other cars and pedestrians when dropping off and collecting your children from school.
Please see the map below as a guide for where to park on when dropping off and collecting your children. You are welcome to park and wait in any area, except for the section designated for staff parking. Please note that the 'Set Down Zone' in front of the DE admin building is limited to 2 mins and not intended as a waiting area. Please also refrain from stopping in the middle of the driveway to collect/drop off. We recommend that parents/carers utilise the car park rather than collecting students outside the school grounds. Please be aware that when moving by foot, students and parents are to use the two crossings to move from and to your vehicle.
Please note that the entrance via Destiny Church (Grau Street) is not monitored and the gate between JCC and Destiny Church will be locked for security purposes from 8.30am-3pm. If you usually drop your children at Destiny Church and you are running late, please drive up to the Grau Street entrance.
Important Reminders
As we head into 2024, here are a few timely reminders:
Attendance
At Jubilee, we aim for a 95% attendance rate. Students are expected to be in attendance every day, except in the case of illness or family emergency. When a student is absent their parent/carer must notify the College office via a phone call, an email or the Schoolzine app. Students who arrive to school late must report to the College office. Students who are collected before the end of the day must be signed out at the College office by their parents/carers.
If a student is unwell, they must be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before they return to school. Please note that if students have vomited the previous night, and come to school, a parent/carer will be called and asked to collect them.
Mobiles and Handheld Devices
Students who bring phones or any handheld devices to school, must hand them in at the College office in the morning and collect them at the end of the day. If a student is found in possession of a handheld device during the College day, the item will be confiscated by the College staff.
Messages to Students
Parents/carers who need to contact students during the day may call the College office (4091 4677) to leave a message for the student. Please note that to provide sufficient time for communication, messages must be submitted to the office by 1pm, except in the case of an emergency.
School Uniform Policy
JCC considers wearing of the College school uniform an important part of College identity and ensures a sense of belonging. Wearing the uniform correctly demonstrates pride in our College, not only to our classmates and teachers, but to the wider community. The full policy can be found on page 4-7 of the student diaries.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program
The JCC ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) program allows parents/carers to provide students with a device that meets the minimum requirements of the school. It is a requirement for all students from Years 7-12 BYOD. The family is responsible for the hardware service and maintenance of the Chromebook/laptop and the College will be responsible for the network and software.
If assistance is required with a device, please contact helpdesk@jubileecc.qld.edu.au.
We expect students to:
- Bring their device to school each day
- Ensure that it is fully charged and ready to last all day
- Have the appropriate software to meet the requirements of their subjects
Stay Connected
Early next week, we will be sending home our JCC 2024 Calendar (see below) with term dates, public holidays as well as important dates for the diary. We have laminated them and put a magnet on the back so that they can easily take up residence on your fridge!
We are keen to keep all of our families up to date with the happenings of Jubilee Christian College. Please be sure that you are regularly checking your child's diary for any notes from their teachers. Newsletters will be published on a fortnightly basis and distributed via the SchoolZine app, with a link sent to your email. Please ensure that you download and access the SchoolZine app, and contact the office if you have any hassles. This app will also give you access to our school calendar, so you can see what events are coming up. For those who prefer a paper copy of the newsletter, we will have newsletters available in the foyer of our (new) administration building.
Please take the time to read the newsletter each fortnight as there is often crucial information and updates included. We also post regular updates, reminders, and pictures on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
If you have any issues or questions at any time, please don't hesitate to contact the class/homeroom teacher:
